The Multi-Agency Craft Conference (MACC) provides a forum for open exchange and discussion about boats and craft between government agencies and the maritime community.

The primary focus is the dialog between the Department of Defense and other government agencies on common issues unique to boats and craft in their service. The types of craft discussed range from Army & Navy service craft to Navy and Coast Guard patrol boats to Naval Special Warfare and Marine Corps combatant craft. Craft types include RIB’s, patrol and insertion craft, landing craft, utility craft and special purpose craft.

The Hague, Netherlands, August 16th, 2010

Built on the river banks of the river Donau, by Q-Selva Industries S.R.L. and tested under the watchful eyes of the Romanian and Serbian custom authorities, a new interceptor craft has come to life. The craft carries the name Stealth Craft and at first sight looks like a furious, perfectly cut, black diamond.

The Stealth Craft is originally designed for military use. The challenging shaped edges and the materials used, make this immediately clear. Next to the military version, work is undertaken to build a civilian version for boaters with steel nerves and a strong inclination towards individuality.

The civilian and military version of the Stealth Craft consist of the same basic components: high quality Kevlar (bullet-proof composite) and due to its shape not directly recognizable by radar. In addition an impressive powerhouse is placed in the back of the boat, an inboard 6.6L V8 engine from Marinediesel from Sweden, ranging from 300 HP to 500 HP. In combination with a MSA drive from Germany and a weight of less than 1300 kg, one will immediately have the impression of sitting behind the steering wheel of an offshore powerboat. The measurements of the Stealth Craft’s vary in length between 7.25 meter and 9.50 meter and 2.45 meter wide. Besides this currently a 12 and 18 meter version are being developed.

The civilian version can be utilized for recreational purpose for those who want an exclusive sports boat and have high demands for transportation over water. Maximum speeds of 80 km to 125 km per hour and the ease of jumping waves, contribute to an exceptional fun element. Depending on the version, the costs of the Stealth Craft, vary between 59,000 and 120,000 Euro. The production of both the 7.25 and 9.50 meter version shall commence in December 2010.

The Stealth Craft is the latest development from the Q-Selva shipyard (www.qselva.com), owned by Tony Selva. Tony Valentino Selva (44) is a rebellious Dutchman, with Italian blood, from an old Italian family of artists and designers from the Venice area. For more than 15 years he has run his ship yard in Severin, next to the river Donau in Romania. Tony Selva is a passionate boat builder who has raised his profession to a form of art. The company Q-Selva is specialized in the building of exclusive speedboats with a maximum length of 10 meters. This is realized through a team of independently operating specialists who work on exclusive projects. The global marketing and sales activities of the Stealth Craft are coordinated from the Netherlands, through a partnership with Olumide Somefun (41).

Beginning as rebuilder, Marinediesel finds success supplying new engines based on AM General’s Hummer diesels.

Swedish company Marinediesel began its activity with a focus at overhauling and reselling used marine engines. Andreas Blomdahl, today the president and owner of the company, started the company in 1992 and seven years later changed the focus from used engines to new, hightech marine engines sold worldwide.

“We buy the basic engine block from AM General in the U.S.A. and build the complete propulsion unit using our own designed solutions and parts like intake and exhaust manifolds, control system and the supercharged system,” said Blomdahl. “In total, 95 different parts and systems are built onto the basic block, components which we subcontract to companies in Sweden and around 15 other countries, most of them in Europe.”

All the Marinediesel engines are based on the General Motors 6.5 L V8 diesel engine, which followed the 6.2 L engine introduced in 1992. In 1993, General Motors did a number of improvements to the design and at
the same time increased the cylinder volume to 6.5 L. In 1999, the production of the engine was sold to AM General, which manufactures the U.S. military’s High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMVEE) and its commercial equivalent, the Hummer.

Four Marinediesel engine models — the Tigershark, Hammerhead, Stingray and Barracuda — are available. They are all freshwater cooled and equipped with a Stanadyne Marine DB4 mechanical fuel injection pump.
All but the smallest, the Barracuda, uses a positive displacement, fourstage, intercooled supercharger system to maximize torque and performance at low and mid r/min as well as remove black smoke. The Autorotor supercharger is of the Swedish Lysholm design and has two rotating, spiral cut meshing rotors. An Autorotor supercharger is designed using two screw-type lobes, one convex screw-shaped lobe and the other, a larger concave screw-shaped cavity. The screw rotators operate in opposite directions from one another, drawing air from one end of the housing and pumping it through the housing longitudinally between the rotors and then dispersing it from the other end of the case.

This system is a positive displacement supercharger. It has no contacting parts or frictional drag other than the rotor gears, and needs no internal lubrication and is perfectly balanced, the company said. It affords internal compression similar to a vane supercharger, which greatly increases the adiabatic and volumetric efficiency. “The beauty of supercharging is that the charger is working all the time, giving a moment.

Marinediesel is proud to announce the signing of an OEM agreement with GM Powertrain. Marinediesel is hereby the first OEM with GM PT outside the United States and the only OEM with a focus on the diesel market. Marinediesel will take on the full line of GM engines, both petrol and diesel. The market for these new products will be for marine, automotive and commercial clients in Europe, Africa and Asia. The agreement is a result of several years of work by the Marinediesel management team.

This new agreement will further extend the companies portfolio which up till now has consisted of a line of marine diesel engines and an engineering division. Marinediesel has operated in the marine and powertrain sector since 1992. This is all in line with the long term goal of becoming a full service powertrain supplier and engineering company. Marketing of the GM PT portfolio will start Q3 of 2010 and will add a new sales division that will work very closely with the in-house engineering team. Marinediesels engineering and R&D department has been further expanded during 2009 in anticipation of this new product line that will require a high level of engineering support from the clients. Further investments to increase R&D capacity will be added by the end of the year, including new test cells and additional rapid prototyping equipment.

Marinediesel just added it’s new of 6.6L common rail V8 engines ranging from 350-500hp that with a weight of just 460kg will have the highest power to weight ratio on the market today. This engine is base on a GM product.
